About Macua Tours

Private travel across Costa Rica and Nicaragua, built around the details that actually matter.

You already know that travel in Costa Rica and Nicaragua can look simple online.

  • Then the pickup time changes.
  • The driver is hard to reach.
  • The border crossing takes longer than expected.
  • The hotel is beautiful, but the access road is more complicated than anyone mentioned.
  • The tour sounds good on paper, but the guide does not match the kind of experience you wanted.

That is precisely why Macua Tours exists. We plan private travel with the kind of practical detail that keeps a trip moving well.

Built From Real Miles, Not Marketing

Macua Tours was not created in a brand strategy session. It grew from years of actual travel work in Costa Rica and Nicaragua, learning the roads, the routes, the hotels, the guides, the timing, and the small details that make a private trip feel calm instead of complicated.

Since 2009, that field experience has been the foundation of the brand.

  • Not the logo.
  • Not the website.
  • The miles.

What We Actually Do

Most travel problems happen in the gap between who booked the trip and who actually understands how the trip needs to work. Macua Tours closes that gap.

  • We plan, coordinate, and stay involved.
  • We match the right guide to the right guest.
  • We work with drivers who know the route.
  • We recommend hotels that fit the trip, not just the ones that look good in photos.
  • We help you understand timing, distances, border, logistics, pickup details, and what is realistic.

We stay reachable during the key travel moments. We are not the company that hands you off and disappears.

Vetted Guides, Drivers, Hotels, and Local Experts

A great private trip depends on the people behind it. Over the years, Macua Tours has built working relationships with vetted guides, drivers, hotels, transportation providers, destination specialists, and local experts across Costa Rica and Nicaragua.

  • Some guides know the birding trails before sunrise.
  • Some drivers know the Liberia to San Juan del Sur road in the dark.
  • Some hotels work beautifully for families, while others are better for couples, birders, surfers, or
    travelers who want quiet.

Our local experts know when a route is worth doing, when it should be adjusted, and when it is better to choose a smarter alternative. These are not random names pulled from a booking platform. They are independent local specialists and vetted places we know through direct experience, reputation, communication, reliability, and years of work in the region.

When something shifts mid-trip, and in this region, something eventually can, this local network matters.

Costa Rica, At the Level of Detail That Matters

Costa Rica is the heart of what we do.

  • The private transfer from Liberia Airport while the afternoon light is still good.
  • The hotel outside Monteverde that requires extra planning because of the road.
  • The early birding route near Arenal that most generic itineraries skip.
  • The beach stay near Manuel Antonio where timing, luggage, and route planning matter more than people expect.
  • The family trip through Guanacaste, where everyone has a different pace and the schedule needs to feel easy.

We know Costa Rica at the level of detail that separates a trip that flows from one that quietly exhausts you.

That is the kind of planning our guests come to us for.

Nicaragua, for Guests Who Go Further

For guests who want to go beyond the standard Costa Rica circuit, Nicaragua adds something genuinely different.

  • Granada in the early morning before the day gets busy.
  • Ometepe with Volcán Concepción in full view.
  • San Juan del Sur at a pace that does not feel rushed.
  • León with a guide who can explain the history like a real conversation, not a script.
  • Popoyo for surf travelers who want the logistics handled properly.

We have coordinated private travel across Nicaragua since 2009, including cross-border trips from Costa Rica through Peñas Blancas. Nicaragua rewards travelers who plan it well. Our job is to make that planning feel clear.

The Costa Rica to Nicaragua Crossing

The Costa Rica to Nicaragua border crossing can feel intimidating if you have never done it before.

There are exit fees, immigration lines, luggage movement, customs steps, transport coordination, and timing variables that do not always fit neatly into an online itinerary.

Macua Tours makes the crossing feel clear, step by step. We prepare you before departure, coordinate the correct timing, align the driver and guide details, and stay reachable during the key parts of the journey. For many guests, the crossing ends up feeling far calmer than they expected. That is the goal.

Why Guests Choose Macua Tours

Guests come to Macua Tours when they realize that a good private trip through Costa Rica and Nicaragua requires more than a reservation. It requires judgment.

  • Our guests are often families who need the logistics to work for everyone, not only for the person who made the booking.
  • They are couples who want a private itinerary instead of a shared group tour.
  • They are travelers connecting Costa Rica and Nicaragua who want one company coordinating the trip without gaps.
  • They are birders and nature travelers who need guides that match their level of interest.
  • They are surfers who care about timing, route planning, and local knowledge.
  • They are guests who have been to Central America before and want to do it better this time.

We are a small operation by design. We do not chase volume. We take fewer bookings and pay closer attention

Private Travel, Personally Planned

Every traveler arrives with a different idea of what a good trip should feel like.

  • Some want comfort and quiet.
  • Some want birds, wildlife, and photography.
  • Some want surf.
  • Some want volcanoes and culture.
  • Some want a safe private transfer with no surprises.
  • Some want a full itinerary where the details are already thought through.

We start by listening. Then we help shape the route, timing, guide support, transportation, hotels, and activities around what actually makes sense for the traveler.

That personal approach is what has kept Macua Tours relevant since 2009.

The Company Behind the Name

Macua Tours is the travel brand. The legal entity behind it is Origami Passage Holdings LLC, a Wyoming-registered company serving Costa Rica and neighboring destinations for international travelers. In legal, banking, tax, and payment records, the trade name may appear without the accent as Macua Tours.

Macua Tours grew from years of field experience across Costa Rica and Nicaragua. That regional foundation is intact. What evolved is the structure around it, now supported by a U.S. legal structure to serve international guests with the clarity and accountability that serious travel planning deserves.

For guests, this is a practical benefit:  clear invoicing, documented payments, a verifiable business structure, and one point of accountability for the booking process.

The name on your receipt may appear as Origami Passage Holdings LLC. The team planning your trip is Macua Tours.

Clear structure. Personal service. Local experience
